A word from the Principal...

Dear Parents and Guardians of Old Saybrook Rams~

As you well know the 2016-17 academic year is off and running! Students and teachers seem to be settling into our new 8 Drop 2 Master Schedule and X-Block overall appears to be a hit! Throughout the school year you will receive monthly newsletters intended to inform you of different activities taking place each month. We may even throw in some educational material or links to great videos worth a look-see. The goal is to be in regular communication with parents and guardians regarding happenings at O.S.H.S., as well as some trends in education. Please note that you never have to wait for these Newlsetters to get your questions answered. I encourage you to reach out to your son’s and/or daughter’s school counselor, our Associate Principal, Joe Anastasio or me with questions and/or concerns anytime. Finally, it is important to always make sure you read the last line of each newsletter in order to be eligible for great prizes! Happy reading!

Spring Sports Night Monday, March 13th 6:30PM, Auditorium

Director of Athletics and Activities, Mike Cunningham, hosts these seasonal, evening programs to ensure that consistent information is disseminated to all parents and student-athletes at the start of each season. If your son or daughter played a fall and/or winter sport this year we still encourage you to attend, as refreshers are always helpful. If the spring season is your son’s or daughter’s first time playing a sport this year attendance is mandatory by both the student-athlete and at least one parent/guardian. Topics include: eligibility, sportsmanship and expectations (players, coaches and parents), concussion training for parents (now required by the CIAC and legislation), and more. Following the large group session in the auditorium, teams will break out by specific sport to enable coaches to share more detail about the various expectations for the spring. ALL student- athletes (regardless of participation in previous seasons) are required to attend the team meetings that follow the 6:30 program.
