Guidelines for Public Comment

  1. When called, please introduce yourself by stating your name and address for the record.

  2. Each speaker has three (3) minutes. A timekeeper will notify you when your time has expired; please conclude your remarks at that time.

  3. Please conduct yourself calmly and respectfully. Disruptive or disrespectful behavior may result in the Board Chair ending your speaking time.

  4. Please avoid comments about specific students or staff, whether by name or other identifying details. The Board does not address personnel or student matters. Members of the public are encouraged to direct such concerns to the appropriate administrator.

  5. The Audience of Citizens portion is designed for the Board to listen. It is not a discussion period, and the Board does not respond to questions or engage in dialogue during public comment. Your topic may be formally added to a Board meeting agenda at a later time. The Superintendent of Schools may respond or clarify a specific issue at the meeting, or the Board Chair may respond on behalf of the Board of Education.
