Board of Education Policy & Notices
Students, their parents/guardians, staff members, and administrators are responsible for following all current policies and regulations set forth by the Old Saybrook Board of Education. Board policies are essential to the health, safety, and well-being of all students and staff as well as the effective, efficient, and consistent operations of the school district. Please note that policies may be revised by the Board of Education during the school year. When such changes occur, the administration will follow relevant public notice requirements.
We strongly request that all parents/guardians review with their children the required notices and frequently requested policies listed below.
Student Data Privacy
The Old Saybrook School District is committed to protecting the privacy of our student's information data as well as implementing educational technology that provides for a safe learning environment. The District complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) as well as the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
On October 1, 2016, Connecticut's Public Act 16 - 189, An Act Concerning Student Data Privacy" went into effect. The District is working diligently with all vendors and publishers of products that fall under the scope of this new law to ensure their compliance.
