OSHS has earned Silver recognition on the 2025 AP® School Honor Roll, a distinction that reflects our commitment to building a strong college-going culture and expanding opportunities for students to succeed.
Class of 2025 Highlights:
62% of students took at least one AP Exam
54% earned a score of 3+ on an AP Exam
10% took 5+ AP Exams, including at least one in 9th or 10th grade
This recognition represents a true school-wide effort, and we’re proud of our students, families, teachers, counselors, and staff who support rigorous learning every day.
Ram Pride!

Through Walmart’s Holiday Coloring Activation, our Goodwin students shared their creativity to brighten the season — and Walmart returned the kindness with a generous gift for our school.
We’re grateful for community partners who support our students and schools all year long.

Old Saybrook Girls Basketball gets a big comeback win 29 - 27 against Coginchaug. Boys Basketball completed the sweep with a 62 - 52 overtime win. Go Rams!

Thank you to our students and staff for showing up in pajamas and with big hearts for PJ Day for the Kids at Connecticut Children’s. Your generosity and school spirit made a meaningful difference for children battling cancer across our state.
Here are our fundraising totals as of this afternoon:
Goodwin Elementary: $500
Old Saybrook Middle School: $250
Old Saybrook High School: $400
Online Donations: $410
Total raised so far: $1,560!

We also extend a huge congratulations to Marijke Kehrhahn, who was elected as the Board’s Vice Chairman, and to Karen Brodeur, who will continue her incredible service to our district as the newly elected Chairman. James Henderson was elected to serve as Board of Education Secretary, rounding out the Executive Board.
Thank you to all of our Board of Education Members for stepping forward to help shape the bright future of Old Saybrook Public Schools.

Students from Grade 5 through Grade 8, along with our two talented Old Saybrook High School choirs, filled the auditorium with a beautiful blend of holiday classics, pop culture favorites, and traditional choral arrangements.
Their voices, confidence, and joy lit up the stage, a true reflection of the hard work of our music educators and the supportive community cheering them on.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special tradition.

We’re thrilled to share that 11 OSHS students are diving into the Electric Boat NextGen Boat Program, gaining real-world, hands-on experience in some of the region’s most in-demand trades!
Since November 24, our students have been attending experiential learning sessions at Grasso Tech in Groton, with three more sessions ahead at Rhode Island Community College in Westerly. Even better — they represent all four grade levels at OSHS, and for the first time in program history, we have three female students participating!
Throughout the program, students are exploring six high-demand career pathways at Electric Boat:
Welding
Ship Fitting
Machining
Pipefitting
Electrical
Sheet Metal Fabrication
A huge thank-you to Gretchen Holthausen for chaperoning this week’s session and capturing some great photos of our students in action.

Thank you to everyone who came out, cheered, and made the event such a success. We’re proud to be part of a community that shows up for our students.
GO RAMS!
